How to create a one-sided journal entry?
Possible Resolution:

From time to time it may be necessary to make a one-sided journal entry in order to correct an out of balance condition in General Ledger.  The procedure is much the same as entering a regular double-sided journal entry. The following steps outline the process for entering a one-sided entry.

Setting up security:

Supervisory rights are required when entering one-sided journal entries. Perform the following steps to allow users to create one-sided journal entries.

1. Open Library Master/ Main/ Role Maintenance
2. Select applicable role from the lookup
3. Click the "Security Events" tab
4. Select General Ledger, and select the
   'Allow Out-of-Balance Journal Entries' 
   check box. Click 'Accept'
5. Open Library Master/ Main/ User Maintenance
6. Select applicable user ID from the lookup, 
    and click the 'Maintenance' tab
7. Select the role used in the previous
    steps, and click 'Accept'

Perform the following steps to enter a one-sided journal entry:

1. Open General Ledger/ Main/ General
    Journal Entry
2. Enter the source journal code and
    source journal number
3. Enter the posting date, leaving the
    'Reversing Date' field blank
4. Enter a journal comment, if necessary
5. Click the 'Lines' tab. At the 'Journal 
    Comment' field, press ENTER, or click the
    '2. Lines' tab
6. Enter as many individual lines as needed 
    using the same steps as when entering
    any other journal entry
7. Click the 'Accept' button
8. Click the 'One' button at the prompt,
    "This journal is out of balance. This entry
    must balance in order to post to 
    General Ledger"
9. Print and update the general ledger.

 



A Favorite Recipe!

Pork Tenderloin with Red Wine Sauce
This is Lisa's favorite dish to make for her guests on those chilly weekends!

2  pounds pork tenderloin; peel all the fat; sliced lengthwise 1/2" thick a slice; flatten lightly and marinate with 4 tsp. olive oil, 1 clove of garlic minced, 1 tsp. rosemary, 1 tsp. crushed peppercorn and keep on the side.

Sauce
3 Tbsp. butter
6 mushrooms, washed and sliced
4 oz. curry powder
1 onion, chopped
1 Tbsp. flour
6 oz. beef broth
1 Tbsp. tomato paste
some chopped green onion
some chopped parsley
salt & pepper

In a fry pan, heat the butter and sauté the onion and mushroom for a few minutes. Stir in the flour and mix well. Add the rest of the ingredients. Simmer for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Meanwhile, heat another large frypan. Place the pork tenderloin slices with the marination in the pan and cover with  lid. Cook over a high heat for 2-3 minutes each side, turning once. Add the sauce. Cook for a few minutes more and serve piping hot sprinkled with some chopped parsley.
Makes 4 servings.
