Many of you have asked about compatibility with Windows operating systems, given the introduction of Windows Vista.

 

 

 Do you receive the error 6123 when trying to open QuickBooks?

This error indicates that QuickBooks did not receive a reply when it tried to contact the computer where the company file is located.

To do this task

1. On the computer where the company file is stored, verify that the computer is powered on and is not in Standby or Hibernate mode.

2. Close other programs you may have open to free up available resources. Be sure to save your work before closing any program.

3. If you use firewall software, verify that the firewall settings are correct.

   To allow QuickBooks access, configure your firewall application as follows:

   File	Traffic	Port
   FileManagement.exe	Incoming and Outgoing	10172
   QBDBMgrN.exe	Incoming and Outgoing	10172
   QBGDSPlugin.exe	Incoming and Outgoing	10172

4. Try to open the company file again.

What is the difference between Downloading, Uploading and Installing?

Downloading - This is moving a file that's on the Internet (or over a network) onto your computer. For most of us, downloading is just a matter of clicking a download link on a web site and saving the file to disk.

Uploading - This is the opposite of downloading. With uploading, you take a file from your computer and send it to a computer on the internet (or a computer / server on a network). Usually this is done with an FTP (File Transfer Protocol) client, but some web sites you'll come across will allow you to send files to them with your web browser.

Installing - This is often confused with downloading, but it's different. When you install something, you basically "put" the program on your computer so you can use it. Normally this is done via a setup program or "wizard" to make installation easy. Once you're finished installing a program, you can usually run it from your Start Menu, Programs area.

1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1/3 cup raisins

1/4 cup chopped red onion

2 cups mayonnaise

2 T. sugar

2 t. lemon juice

8 slices of bacon very crispy

 

In a bowl combine the broccoli, cheese, raisins and onion. In a separate bowl mix together the mayonnaise, sugar, and lemon juice. Toss with the broccoli mixture and just before serving add the bacon.
