FILE FORMAT USAGE JPEG or JPG (Joint Photographic Experts Group): This format is the most universal (cross-platform) and compressed, which enables easy transport over the Internet. It can be used for high resolution or low resolution files, for Mac and PC, for print and for Web, and in CMYK*, RGB* or other color formats. It is the best format for sending large files over the Internet. TIF or TIFF (Tagged Image File Format): The TIF file can be saved for Mac or PC and is a good cross-platform format. When saved as a TIF, graphics can be used in Microsoft Word without experiencing laser printing problems. Note: Even though EPS files hold more information than a TIF, the file resolutions are equally as good when printing on press or laser printers. EPS (Encapsulated PostScript): An EPS file format is used primarily for Macintosh computers. These files can be vector-based (created in Adobe Illustrator) or pixel-based (created in Adobe Photoshop). Note: Even though EPS files hold more information than TIF files, the print resolutions are equally as good when printing on press or to a laser printer. GIF (Graphical Interchange Format): This is a very low resolution format and is only used for monitors or Web related viewing. This format is not used for press or laser printing purposes. PNG (Portable Network Graphic): PNG file format is used only for Web-site creation. It is similar to a GIF file but has 10% to 30% more compression, which creates a smaller file size. PDF (Portable Document Format): A file format that is used for transporting and viewing files across the Internet. BMP (Bitmap): BMP format is used mostly on PC and is a low resolution format. This is an RGB* file format and is not used for press or laser printing. It is used most often for presentations. *CMYK stands for cyan, magenta, yellow and black. These are the colors that are the 4-color process used in press and laser printing.
RGB stands for red, green and blue which is the color spectrum on a computer monitor and is used for viewing purposes when creating a presentation or Web site.
All of the above file formats can be black and white line art, grayscale or color photos and graphics. |

The warm weather is here and let the fun begin!
Here are a few of our favorite dips for lounging by the pool or gathering with friends.
Taco Pie
1 package taco seasoning mix
1 jar salsa
1 pound of ground beef
8 oz. cream cheese
1 pkg of shredded Monterey cheese
Spread the cream cheese on the bottom and sides of a pie plate. Cook the ground beef and follow the directions on the taco seasoning mix. Add 1/2 jar of salsa to the ground beef and put onto the cream cheese. Layer the remaining 1/2 jar of salsa on ground beef. Top with the Monterey cheese and bake in a 350 oven for 15-20 min. Serve with Tortilla chips.
Spinach Dip
1 pkg of Knorr's vegetable soup mix
1 box of frozen chopped spinach
1 1/2 c. sour cream
1 c. mayonnaise
8 oz. can water chestnuts chopped
8 oz. can bamboo shoots chopped
3 scallions, chopped
1 round pumpernickel bread
Mix all ingredients well and chill for atleast 2 hours. Carve a middle circle into the bread (tear into small pieces for dipping) and fill just before serving. It may be served w/ crackers also.
Crabmeat Dip
12 oz. cream cheese
6 oz. crabmeat w/ liquid
1 tsp. minced onion
Cocktail sauce
Mix the cream cheese, crabmeat and onion and shape into a ball and refrigerate for atleast 2 hours. Just before serving pour the cocktail sauce over the dip.Serve with Frito Scoops. |
