S&R Corporation was founded in 1987 by brothers Roger and Steven Ploof, immediately upon completion of high school. They began performing trucking services, equipment rental and some small, residential demolition work. It was a humble beginning at best. Roger and Steven used their parent's back yard and garage in Pelham, New Hampshire to store and repair their equipment. Early on, Roger and Steven would both work almost exclusively in the field. Their mother, Mary would perform their bookkeeping for them. As time went on, S&R continued to take on yet larger projects and the brothers started moving away from trucking and equipment rental and turned their focus toward the public sector demolition market. Steven Ploof began to assume most of the estimating / project management responsibilities and Roger assumed responsibility for all of the field operations. In 1995, S&R moved their operations to Lowell, Massachusetts. They also began to diversify their operations into bridge construction. This proved pivotal in their continued growth. This division grew rapidly and by 2000, accounted for approximately half of the firm's revenue. Building demolition operations also continued to grow, expanding into several different states across New England. Today, S&R has evolved into one of the leading Demolition / Heavy Construction contractors in the region, employing approximately 60 people and performing almost twenty million dollars worth of projects, annually. Moving forward, S&R intends to pursue its aspirations of continued growth. They are beginning to pursue even larger, more complex projects and are venturing further out of the area, trying to develop potential, future markets. However, as the company continues to grow, the owners maintain a very "hands on" approach to management. It is their belief with that approach and the very talented, dedicated employees at S&R, that their success has been realized.

Version 6 is Released!
With the release of Sage BusinessWorks Version 6, Sage software has introduced a whole new way of improving efficiency, increasing profitability, and managing your business. This powerful new version represents over 6 years worth of improvements providing you with with the cutting edge technology and powerful reporting that your company needs to stay ahead of competition. Core Improvements
Many enhancements have been made to the core modules and backbone of the system. Improved Search Features allow you to conduct faster and more powerful look-ups including the ability to hide and rearrange columns, change the sort order, and customize lookup screens for each employee. What's more, you can easily export the lookup results to Microsoft Excel to quickly create a customer call list, vendor list, active parts list, and much more. A new Cash Balance Inquiry has been added and is easily accessed from the cash management accounts menu. Need to quickly identify transactions that make up the open invoice balance? Then you'll benefit from the new Inquiry Balance Drill Down in AP and AR. Finally, Voiding AP credit Card Payments can now be accomplished in a single step that also reinstates the original AP invoice and adjusts the GL payables account when necessary. Inventory Control and Order Entry
Helping to ensure accurate order fulfillment and improved communication with customers and vendors, new features such as Creating Purchase Orders from a Sales Order ensure that you quickly procure inventory to meet customers needs. One or more purchase orders can be created directly from the sales order option providing you with complete control to determine the parts, quantity, and vendor to order from. A new Drop Ship Flag in the Maintain Purchase Orders task provides better tracking of dropped shipped PO's. Other features include the ability to look up sales orders and invoices using the customers PO number. New and Improved Reporting
Reporting is perhaps the most important aspect of an accounting system. After all, why collect all this data if we can't run meaningful reports in order to make important business decisions? With that in mind, you'll love the new GL Reporting Sort Options that allow you to create reports the way you want to see them. Many reports now include a "Sort By" option that provides up to three sort options per report and the ability to sort in ascending and descending order. In addition, analyze your cash needs with the Consolidated Cash Flow Report, view complete invoice line item detail with the Accounts Receivable Line Item Report, and easily determine the value of inventory in your warehouse with the Warehouse Stock Report. New Database
Sage BusinessWorks Version 6 is a full 32-bit program that incorporates an open database. This new architecture will better accommodate your company's growth and allow you to take advantage of tools like Microsoft Access and Crystal Report Writer. Upgrade Considerations

Lisa's Hash Browns
A wonderful side dish!!
32 ounce package hashbrowns thawed
1/2 cup melted butter
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
1/2 cup chopped onions
1 cup cream of chicken soup
12 ounce sour cream
2 cups grated cheddar cheese
buttered bread crumbs
Mix all together and put in a greased casserole dish. Sprinkle with buttered bread crumbs and bake for 45-60 minutes @350º oven. |
